Patricia “Pat” Ann (Stelten) Strohmeier, the daughter of Lester and Evelyn (Rosenow) Stelten, was born May 28, 1946, and was raised on a farm in Kimball along with her eight siblings. She graduated from Kimball High School in 1964, and shortly thereafter, met the love of her life, David Strohmeier. They were united in marriage on February 17, 1968, at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Kimball. Pat and Dave spent the first years of their marriage living in Minneapolis and in 1971, they moved to Watkins and raised their four children: Jim, Deb, Scott, and Mike. Beyond caring for her family, Pat worked at a variety of jobs. From 1970-1973 she and Dave co-owned D & D Liquor in Watkins. In addition, she worked as a teller at Farmers State Bank, a bookkeeper for many local businesses, and an election judge, all in Watkins. Her faith was an important part of her life and she was an active member of Church of St. Anthony. On July 1, 2000, Pat underwent a double lung transplant at the University of Minnesota. Despite a few setbacks medically, Pat was able to thoroughly enjoy her life. Most important to her was being able to see all of her children get married and to become “grandma” when the grandchildren were born. Pat cherished her roles of wife, mom, and grandma, and she captured every opportunity she could to be present with her family. She looked forward to attending sporting events and school activities and loved making memories at the lake. She was selfless, humble, and always happy. A second mom to many, Pat sincerely cared about people and always put others first. She never complained no matter what health issues she was facing. Strength and perseverance were second nature to her as was sharing her beautiful smile with others. After a recent two and a half month medical struggle, Pat passed away. During this time, she was able to spend quality time with all four of her children. Pat was a wonderful wife, an amazing mom and an incredible grandma. She will truly be missed beyond measure. Pat is survived by her husband of 54 years, David Strohmeier of Watkins; children and their families: Jim and Jaime Strohmeier (Courtney and Lyndsey) of Little Falls, Deb and Matt Evans (Owen, Brynn, and Grace) of St. Paul, Scott and Karla Strohmeier (Emily, Anna, and Kate) of Council Bluffs, IA, and Mike and Breanne Strohmeier (Flynn and Krew) of Paynesville; siblings: Jim and Patty Stelten of Kimball, Mary and Steve Pepelnjak of Sun City West, AZ, Diane and Jim Fast of Hutchinson, and Robert and Cindy Stelten of Kimball; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lester and Evelyn Stelten; siblings, Joyce Olsen, Janice Stelten, Dorothy Stelten, and Duane Stelten; parents-in-law, Ray and Mildred Strohmeier; and brother-in-law, Danny Strohmeier.
