William Weninger

William D. Weninger, age 75, of Litchfield, MN, formerly of St. Paul, MN, died on Monday, May 18, 2009 at the Emmanuel Home in Litchfield, MN. A memorial service will be held at 12:00 Noon on Thursday, May 21, 2009 at the Fort Snelling Memorial Chapel, Fort Snelling, MN. Visitation will be held from 5:00 - 7:00 PM on Wednesday at Johnson-Hagglund Funeral Home, Litchfield, MN and will continue one hour prior to the service on Thursday. Interment will be in Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Fort Snelling, MN. William Donald Weninger, the son of Martin John and Beaulah (Spangenberg) Weninger, was born on June 20, 1933 in St. Paul, Minnesota. He grew up in St. Paul and graduated from the Monroe High School in 1951. He was united in marriage to Helen Hawley on July 26, 1952 in St. Paul, MN. William enlisted in the US Navy and served in Korea. After being discharged from the military, he lived in Inver Grove Heights, MN working at the Flynt Hills Refinery in Pine Bend. He later worked for Metropolitan Waste Control until his retirement in 1995. He then moved to Litchfield where he built his cabin on Star Lake into a home. William was a member of the NRA and enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, traveling, working on projects and watching sports, especially the MN Twins. He will be remembered by his love of family, his courage and he was always there when needed. William is survived by his wife Helen of Litchfield; children John Weninger of Apple Valley, MN, Judy Weninger of Forest Lake, MN, Tom Weninger of Eagan, MN, Tim Weninger of Inver Grove Heights, MN, Karen (and Mark) Reinsberg of Forest Lake, MN and Kathleen (and Tom) Anderson of Princeton, MN. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren Chad, Lenae, Dan, Landon, Ashley, Christina, Reggie, Sean and Alicia; 4 great grandchildren; brothers Robert (and Kathy) Weninger of Cottage Grove, MN, John (and Glenna) Weninger of Cottage Grove, MN and James (and Elizabeth) Weninger of Prior Lake, MN; sisters Nancy (and Bill) Klingberg of Prior Lake, MN and Sue (and Gene) Muelken of Prior Lake, MN. He was preceded in death by his parents Martin and Beaulah.
