William "Bill" Walter Roers

William “Bill” W. Roers died on July 8, 2020 at the age 61. A walk through visitation will be held at Johnson-Hagglund Funeral and Cremation Service on Tuesday, July 14, 2020, from 4:00PM-7:00PM (face masks required). A private family Mass will be held at a later-date. A recording of the service will be posted to Bill’s obituary on the Johnson-Hagglund website. William Walter Roers was born on December 11, 1958, to Ralph and Patricia (Hopfner) Roers in Alexandria, Minnesota. He graduated from High School in 1977, and went on to study banking and finances at the Alexandria Technical College, graduating in 1979. Immediately after school, Bill moved to Litchfield and began his career as a Consumer Banking Officer at Norwest/Wells Fargo. On June 17, 1989, he married Mary Beth Holmgren. They were happily married for the next 31 years. Bill worked for Norwest/Wells Fargo up until 2010 when he moved to Center National Bank. Throughout those years he became known for his bright personality and warm welcome to anyone who came into the bank. As a dedicated father, Bill enjoyed his sons’ activities by coaching their sporting teams and participating in the DU Greenwings. While he enjoyed all things nature, including hunting, fishing, and golfing, what brought him the most joy was spending time with his sons, grandson, and family. He modeled great work-ethic for his sons, and was the first person to make his grandson laugh. He had a great memory that made many people feel appreciated and cared for. Bill was a member of the Church of St. Philip, Knights of Columbus, a former Watercade Board member, and Past President of Jaycees. He is survived by his wife, Mary Roers of Litchfield; his two sons, Alex (Beth) Roers of Circle Pines, and Mitch Roers of Edina; grandchild Jack Roers; his mother Patricia Roers of Alexandria; his siblings, Daryl (Pam) Roers of Garfield, Elaine (Bob) Hagen of Minnetonka, Karen (Andre) Casabonne of Sun City AZ, Maxine (Roger) Sammons of Brandon. Mike (Diane) Roers of Miltona, Rick (Emily) Roers Moorehead, Mary (Rod) Froemming of Garfield, Jean (Dave) Duffy of Maple Grove, Julie (Burt) Jones of Sartell, Linda Roers (Patrick) of Billings MT, Donna (Todd) Tuma of Ham Lake, Kim (Eric) Iverson of Oak Grove; Mary’s 10 siblings and spouses, and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father, Ralph Roers; sister-in-law, Irene Roers; nephews Eric Roers and Keegan Duffy, mother and father-in-law, Lloyd and Esther Holmgren; and brother-in-law Dick Wier. The family will be designating a memorial. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
