Willard Alfred Schultz

Willard A. Schultz, age 81, of Litchfield died on Friday, April 12, 2013, at the Meeker Memorial Hospital in Litchfield. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, April 16, 2013, at the Beckville Lutheran Church. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Monday, April 15th at the Johnson-Hagglund Funeral Home in Litchfield and will continue one hour prior to the service at church on Tuesday. Interment will be in the Beckville Lutheran Cemetery with military honors provided by the Litchfield Military Honor Guard. Willard Alfred Schultz, the son of William and Martha (Dose) Schultz, was born on July 16, 1931 in Glencoe, MN. He grew up in Glencoe and graduated from Glencoe High School in 1949. After graduation he enlisted in the Army and was stationed in Alaska during the Korean War. After his service in the Army he returned to Minnesota; living in various towns as he worked for the railroad. On November 7, 1954, he was united in marriage to Donna Karg in Glencoe, MN. They moved to Hastings in 1962 and lived there until they moved to Cottage Grove in 1966. Willard then worked for Montgomery Wards as a salesman and manager in various locations. In the early 1970's he started working for the U.S Postal Service and they moved to their home on Lake Minnie Belle in 1976. Willard joined the National Guard in the mid 70's and retired from that service and the post office in the early 90's. After retirement, he continued to work various jobs driving for Custom Products, Litchfield Chrysler and 3 G's. He also operated a small business where he bought and sold boats. Willard was an active member of Beckville Lutheran Church and served on the church council. He was also active with the Litchfield Military Honor Guard the American Legion and VFW. He enjoyed fishing, reading, traveling, and watching Twin's baseball, and organizing small polka dances for his old time music friends. Willard is survived by his children, Randall (and Brenda) Schultz of Litchfield, MN, Ronald (and Debra) Schultz of Woodbury, MN, and Linda Wilhelm (John) of Grove City, MN, daughter-in-law LeeAnn Schultz of Litchfield; grandchildren, Jenny (James) Kunkel, Mike (Fabe) Schultz, Jessica Schultz, Nathaniel (and Tiffany) Schultz, Brandon Mead, Alisa Sherwood, Alex Sherwood, Amy Sherwood, Ashley Schultz and Hunter Schultz; great grandchildren Carly, Devin, Kolby, McKenna, Koehn, Kenden, Khetta, Annabelle and Chandler. He is also survived by his sisters, Doloris Roufs of Howard Lake, Joyce (and Les) Rud of Northfield, and Marcene Briest of Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Donna, son Richard, brothers Donald, Harley and Vernon, sisters Ruth and Cary and a sibling in infancy.
