Wayne S. Christie

January 1, 1953 — May 18, 2021

Wayne S. “Bub” Christie, age 67 of Litchfield, died on May 18, 2021, at Indian Point Campgrounds in Duluth, MN. A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, October 24, 2021, at 4B’z Event Center, 905 W 5th St., Litchfield, MN, from 1:00-3:00 PM. Wayne was born on June 1, 1953, in Duluth, MN, to Glenn Christie and Joyce (Ultican) Christie. He attended West Jr. High School until our family moved to Litchfield in his sophomore year and graduated with the class of 1971. Wayne worked for Anderson Ford and the Litchfield Power Plant. He returned to Duluth and worked for the Duluth Power Plant and later worked for the DECC. He moved back to Litchfield and worked as a part time bartender and retired from IRD. Wayne was very athletic. He played football with the Litchfield Dragons scoring an 89-yard punt return. When asked on KLFD radio station how he did this, he replied: “I eat a lot of peanut butter sandwiches.” He ran in the Grandma’s Marathon a number of years. Wayne had a passion for singing and DJ’d in Duluth and always got the crowd involved. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and fishing, tinkering with his Ford vehicles, and barbecuing with friends and family. He was extremely mechanically inclined and could work on and fix just about anything. Wayne was also known as the jokester in the family. He enjoyed playing pranks and sharing jokes. He played both fast pitch and slow pitch softball, playing on many different teams both in Litchfield and Duluth. Wayne is survived by his daughters: Charlene Christie of California and Kelly and Eric Thompson of Duluth, MN; his sister Karen Zoller of Kimball, MN; his sister-in-law Vera Christie of Litchfield, MN; his three grandchildren: Kayla, Nash, and Clara; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents Glenn and Joyce (Ultican) Christie; his brother Bruce; his sister Gwen; and his son Wayne Daniel Christie. Wayne always made a point to visit his son’s gravesite to bring flowers and talk to him. Please sign our online guestbook at www.johnsonhagglund.com
