Warren Lee Wieland, the son of Willard and Louise (Paulson) Wieland, was born on December 21, 1938 in New Ulm, MN. He died at his home in Litchfield on Friday, October 19, 2018 at the age of 79. Warren was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul's Lutheran Church and attended St. Paul's Lutheran Grade School in New Ulm. He graduated from New Ulm High School in 1956. After graduation he enlisted in the US Navy. He later continued his education at Mankato State College, graduating in 1969. On June 22, 1968, he was united in marriage to Jean Marie Spartz at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in New Ulm. Warren worked for Hubbard Milling in Mankato and I.S. Joseph Co. in Minneapolis. In 1985 he started The WW Feed Co., retiring in 1998. They lived in North Mankato, Sioux City IA, and Mankato. In 1974 they moved to Bloomington, MN, then to Darwin, to Eden Prairie and eventually to Litchfield, MN in 2003. Warren was a member of First Lutheran Church, the American Legion and the Litchfield Golf Club. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, playing cards and spending time with family and friends.
He is survived by his wife Jean of Litchfield, children Terri Wieland Blair (Kelly) of Ogilvie, Michael Wieland (Sara Kreiling) of Blaine; son-in-law Dave Gall of Woodland, CA; and granddaughter Jade Wieland of Blaine. He is also survived by a brother Ron (Rose) Wieland of New Ulm, sisters-in-law Percy Wieland of Bloomington and Lynn Carlson of Hutchinson, and his faithful companion “Benji”. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Lynn Marie Gall, and brothers Darwin Wieland, Gerald Wieland and Bruce Wieland.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, October 25, 2018 at the First Lutheran Church in Litchfield. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Wednesday, October 24th at Johnson-Hagglund Funeral and Cremation Service in Litchfield. Interment will be in the Ripley Cemetery with military honors provided by the Litchfield Military Honor Guard.
