Walter J. Tintes was born August 24, 1931 on the Tintes farm near Manannah to Walter and Ella (Mitchell) Tintes. He attended District 90 country school til 8th grade and then went to Litchfield public school. He went to farm ag school at the University of Minnesota. He also studied mechanics at Dunwoody Technical School in Minneapolis. He met LaVonne Haag roller skating at the Eden Valley Roller Rink. They were married on April 29, 1951. He then went to work with his dad on the family farm where they raised children, turkeys, beef cattle and hogs, grew corn and soybeans. He also worked during the winters at Cozy Cab Industries in Litchfield and had many other part-time jobs over the years. Walt was quite inventive, making one of the first corn dryers in the county. He was a man of many talents. He loved his Farmall tractors, having several of them. He semi-retired from farming in 1994 moving off the family farm and moved to the house in the woods. Walt and Lavonne also spent 20 years wintering in Alamo, Texas, where they made many friends. They lived in the woods until two years ago, when they moved into Litchfield. Walt enjoyed many activities — horseshoes, softball, fishing, hunting, snowmobiling, playing cards, throwing bean bags, watching old Westerns and game shows on tv. He loved meeting and talking with people. God bless all our memories of this wonderful man! Walt is survived by the love of his life LaVonne — married for 64 years; sons and daughters — Vicky (Charlie) Ackerman, Judie (Jim) Birk, Jim (Kay) Tintes, Lynda (Dave) Carlson, Jerry Tintes, Lori (Gerry) Hartmann and Jason (Patti) Tintes. They have 22 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren and more on the way. He loved taking the grandkids fishing and giving them rides on his golf cart. He is also survived by his oldest sister Elaine Piefer and sister-in-law Fran Tintes.Previous Events
