Victor M. Tacheny, age 76, of Litchfield died on Friday, June 24, 2011 at the Minneapolis VA. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, June 29, 2011at the Church of St. Philip in Litchfield with Father Joseph Steinbeisser officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Tuesday, June 28th with a parish prayer service at 8:00 PM at the Church of St. Philip. Visitation will resume one hour prior to the services at the church. Interment will be in the Calvary Catholic Cemetery with military honors provided by the Litchfield Military Honor Guard. Victor Martin Tacheny, the son of Joseph and Grace (Vigue) Tacheny, was born on September 3, 1934 in Nicollet, MN. At the age of five his family move to Greenleaf, MN where he attended country school. He graduated from Litchfield High School in 1953. On August 4, 1956, he was united in marriage to Janice Hanson at the Church of Our Lady in Manannah. Vic worked at a grocery store for Bud Nordling and then at Super Valu until 1969. He then worked for Farnquist Dray and Transfer and started his own Mayflower Moving business. In 1974, he began working for Oak Grove Dairy until 1984 when he retired due to health concerns. Vic drove for 3G's auto and for Litchfield Chrysler. Vic served for many years in the National Guard and was called to active duty numerous times. He was a charter member of the Litchfield Eagles' club and a lifetime member of the American Legion. He was also a member of the Church of St. Philip. Vic enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and playing cards. He was a talented wood worker and could fix almost anything. He loved his family and enjoyed children. ""Uncle Bic"" as he was known by nieces and nephews was adopted as ""Grandpa"" by several children. He is survived by his wife Janice of Litchfield, children; Pam (and Charles) Johnson of Redwood Falls, Paula (and James) Hill of De Forest, WI, Pat Tacheny of Litchfield, Rick (and Melissa) Beecroft of Litchfield, 7 grandchildren; Jairod Hill, Tony Hill, Jon Hill, Chelcie Beecroft, Spencer Beecroft, Wyatt Beecroft, and Maddie Beecroft. He is also survived by his brothers; Robert Tacheny of Brainerd, James (and Joanne) Tacheny of Elk River, Joseph (and Ann) Tacheny of Litchfield, sister; Carole (and Raymond) Mueller of Plymouth, Michigan, brother-in-law Leo Granlund, sisters-in-law, Dorothy Tacheny and Darlene Vick, and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Ralph and Stan and sister Jeanne.
