Vernon W. Constant, age 89, of Litchfield, MN, died Wednesday, August 13, 2008 at Meeker County Memorial Hospital in Litchfield, MN. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM on Saturday, August 16, 2008, at the Augustana Memorial Chapel with Pastor Michael Likens officiating. Visitation will be held from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM at the Augustana Memorial Chapel. Interment will be in the Lake Ripley Cemetery in Litchfield, MN. Vernon Walter Constant, the son of Walter and Emma (Lindberg) Constant, was born on October 9, 1918, in Jamestown, North Dakota.. He attended school at School District 25, Grove City and attended the School of Agriculture in St. Paul, MN. Vernon farmed south of Grove City and on the south edge of Litchfield, was a Phillips 66 Bulk Oil Distributor and a gas station owner for a brief time in Pasadena, CA. He was a member of the Meeker County Historical Society and the Masonic Golden Fleece Lodge #89 for over 50 years and a former member of the Litchfield Fire Department. He was a long time member of Arndahl Lutheran Church and a present member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Grove City, MN. Vernon enjoyed traveling and spending time with family. At one time he had his own pilot's license and enjoyed flying. Vernon is survived by his brothers; Robert (and Dora) Constant of La Habra, CA, Herbert (and Mae) Constant of Danville, CA, sister; Laverne Schultz of Litchfield, MN and nieces and nephews and cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law Dean Schultz. Memorials preferred to the Masonic Golden Fleece Lodge #89 and the Meeker County Historical Society.
