Velma Y. Young

Velma Y. Young, age 75 of Litchfield, MN, died at the Meeker Memorial Hospital on Saturday, February 17, 2018. A visitation will be held from 4:00 - 7:00 PM on Friday, March 9, 2018 at the Johnson-Hagglund Funeral Home in Litchfield, MN with a memorial service at 7:00 PM. Interment will be held in Eden Valley at a later date. Velma Yvonne Young, the daughter of Albert and Evelyn (Grassenger) Bogatzki, was born on September 30, 1942 in Glencoe, MN. She graduated from Eden Valley High School in 1960. Throughout her life, Velma lived in Arlington, Eden Valley, Alexandria and Litchfield, MN. She was married to Floyd Young for many years, and was a hostess at the Arrowwood Resort in Alexandria, MN for 23 years. She was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Litchfield, MN. She enjoyed fishing, camping, shopping and going to garage sales. Velma was a good cook and enjoyed hosting family holidays and loved spending time with her family, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is survived by her children Ervin (Diane) Stade of Hutchinson, MN, Brian (Tammy) Stade of Litchfield, MN and Karen (Alan) Pearson of Litchfield, MN; step-children Anthony James (Michelle) Young of Indiana and Kathy (Steve) Goering of Oregon; 14 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; former husband Floyd Young; brothers Richard (Lorinda) Bogatzki of Albany, MN and Norman (Kathy) Bogatzki of Cold Spring, MN; sister Lucille (David) Penkert of Hector, MN; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; step-son Daniel Lee Young; grandson Jeremiah Theisen, brothers and sisters Albert Tony, Evelyn, Dorothy, Andy and Ervin; nephew Clifford; and a niece Evelyn.
