Velda ""Polly"" Pauline Yordi

Velda ""Polly"" Yordi, age 83, formerly of Litchfield, died on Monday, November 3, 2014, at the Heritage Manor Cottages in Park Rapids. Family and friends may gather to celebrate her life from 7:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Peter's on Lake Ripley on Friday, November 7, 2014. A private family interment will take place earlier that day. Velda Pauline Barr, the daughter of William and Laura (Biggs) Barr, was born on April 1, 1931, in Bunker, Missouri. She grew up in Bunker and graduated from Bunker High School in 1949. Polly was united in marriage to Charles Yordi in 1950, at Sedgwick, Arkansas. They made their home in Riverside, Iowa before moving to Rockford, Minnesota in 1957. Three years later they moved to Litchfield. Polly relocated to Park Rapids in September of 2011. She was a charter member of the Sun Bonnet Dollers and enjoyed collecting and refurbishing antique dolls. Polly also enjoyed gardening, quilting, reading, cooking, traveling with Charles, and spending time with her beloved family. She is survived by her children, Bev Johnson of Nevis, Bill Yordi of Litchfield, Julie (and Steve) Schmidt of Rosemount; grandchildren, Chantel (and Michael) Fragassi, Chadd (and Kristen) Johnson, Jaeson Schmidt, Amanda (and Bryce) Johanneck, Geoff Schmidt, Michelle Yordi and David Yordi; great grandchildren, Charlie and Calla Fragassi, Soren and Nikolai Johnson; brother, John Barr, of Colchester, Connecticut and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her Brazilian ""daughter"" Caia Lino and her family. Polly was preceded in death by her parents, husband Charles, 12 siblings, son-in-law, Bruce Johnson, and daughter-in-law, Nancy Yordi. Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers.
