Thomas L. Swenson, age 56 of Spicer, died on Saturday May 11, 2013 at the University of Minnesota Medical Center, Fairview. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, May 17, 2013 at the Svea Lutheran Church. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in the church cemetery. A gathering of friends and family will be held at 5:00 PM on Friday, May 17th at the American Legion in Spicer. Thomas ""Tommy"" Lee Swenson, the son of Donald and Shirley (Nix) Swenson, was born on June 12, 1956 in Svea. He grew up in the Svea area and graduated from Willmar High School in 1975. He was married to Shari Wagner at the Vinji Lutheran Church in Willmar on August 22, 1981. They lived in the Willmar area and Tommy worked for the Dunnick Brothers Construction Company. Health related issues caused him to stop working construction. He moved to Spicer where he enjoyed hunting fishing and spending time with his friends. He loved spending time with family, especially his grandsons. He is survived by his daughters, Emily (and Kyle) Wheeler of Rochester, Danielle Swenson of Minneapolis, mother Shirley Swenson of Sauk Centre, grandsons, Davis and Vance Wheeler, sisters, Cathy (and Paul) Folland of St. Paul, Christy (and John) Felling of Sauk Centre, Charlene (and Mike) Olson of Sauk Centre, brothers John (and Sheri) Swenson of Sioux Falls, SD and Timmy (and Gayle) Swenson of Sauk Centre. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father Donald Swenson.
