Thomas 'Tom' Kreger

Thomas ""Tom"" Edward Kreger, age 82, of Litchfield, MN died on Monday, October 13, 2014, at the St. Cloud Hospital. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, October 17 at the Church of St. Philip in Litchfield, MN. Visitation will be held from 5:00 - 8:00 PM on Thursday, October 16 at the Church of St. Philip with a 7:30 PM prayer service. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the services at the church on Friday. Interment will be held at St. John's Catholic Cemetery in Darwin, MN. Military Honors will be provided by the Litchfield, Military Honor Guard. Thomas ""Tom"" Edward Kreger, the son of Bernard and Margaret (Tierney) Kreger, was born on January 22, 1932 in Green Isle, Minnesota. After attending Arlington High School in Arlington, Minnesota and graduating in 1950, he entered the Air Force for 3 years and served in the Korean War. He was united in marriage to Joan Buck in Henderson, Minnesota on April 29, 1961 and together they lived in Minneapolis, Crystal, Darwin and Litchfield. During his working career Tom was the Service Manager at Brookdale Ford and also worked as a Ford Warranty Representative. He later owned and operated Kreger's Grocery and also was the owner of Grow Rite Lawn Care Service. Tom took care of the St. John's Catholic Church lawn for many years. Tom was a member of the Church of St. Philip in Litchfield, the American Legion Post # 0104, the Darwin Lions club and the Litchfield Eagles Club. He enjoyed going to Arizona during the winter and spending summers at Lake Washington. He appreciated a beautiful green lawn, whether it was at the golf course or if it was on a lawn that he was mowing or servicing. He enjoyed golfing, wood crafting, hunting, fishing, snowmobiling and waterskiing. Tom is survived by his wife Joan Kreger of Litchfield; children, Kelly Kreger of Litchfield, MN, Renee (Dale) Pursley of Litchfield, MN, Gregg Kreger of Darwin, MN, 4 grandchildren, Thomas Martin, Jack Martin, Max Pursley, and Noah Kreger; brothers James (Mary Ann) Kreger of Green Isle, MN, John (Shirley) Kreger of Chanhassen, MN; sisters Geraldine (Paul) Conser of Saddlebrook, Arizona, and Mary (Dick) Caudle of Willis, CA.
