Thomas F Curtis, age 70, died on Wednesday, August 4, 2021 at his home in Dassel. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, August 10, 2021 at Johnson Hagglund Funeral Home at 11:30 AM. Visitation will start at 10:00 AM and will continue until the time of the service.
Thomas Fredrick Curtis the son of Glen and Mary (West) Curtis was born on July 23, 1951 in Slayton, MN. He grew up in the Slayton area and received his education there. Tom graduated from Slayton High School in 1969. He continued his education at Southwest State in Marshall and Mankato State in Mankato. On January 3, 1970 he was united in marriage to Candyce Thraen at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Slayton. He worked for gas companies for most of his career and retired from Cenex.
Tom was a volunteer EMT and Fireman when he lived in Slayton and Watertown. He had a passion for motorcycles and mustangs and was a true car buff. He enjoyed fishing, camping, grilling and smoking meat. Tom had a fantastic sense of humor and loved listening to country music.
Tom is survived by his wife Candyce of Dassel, children; Jennifer Curtis of Slayton, Megan (Bryan) Erickson of Cokato and Danielle Curtis of Excelsior. He is also survived by his grandchildren; Austin (Chelsea) Onken, Alyssa (Ben) Hotzler, Dylan Erickson and Riley Erickson, great grandchildren; Linnea Onken, Lian Onken and Silas Hotzler, siblings; Mary Jo Surprenant, Colleen Reiter, Mike Curtis, Pat (Mark) Donaldson and Kathleen (Charlie) Blesener; and many nieces and nephews.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents, brother Daniel Curtis and brothers-in-law Bob Reiter and Ken Surprenant.
In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to the American Lung Association or Happy Tails Animal Rescue.
