Stuart Thomas Trehus

Devoted Son, Father, Grandfather, Brother, and Friend. Stuart Trehus, age 61, passed away on April 7, 2025, in Litchfield, Minnesota in his home. Born on December 23, 1963, in the same town he called home throughout his life, Stuart’s journey was deeply rooted in the community and countryside of Litchfield. 

Raised in a large family in Litchfield, Stuart developed a strong work ethic and a deep appreciation for the outdoors from an early age. He graduated from Litchfield High School and went on to attend Willmar Technical College for Autobody. His passion for mechanics and hands-on work led him to a fulfilling career where he devoted his life to Shine Floor Care. In addition to his primary work, Stuart also spent several years working as a mechanic and farmer—roles that perfectly suited his love for fixing things and being close to the land. 

Stuart had a natural talent for repairing cars, tractors, and just about anything mechanical. Whether it was under the hood of a vehicle or out in the fields tending to farm equipment, he found joy and purpose in solving problems with his hands. His love of farming extended beyond labor; it was a way of life that he cherished deeply. He especially enjoyed teaching his children new skills and sharing with them the values of hard work and perseverance.

An avid outdoorsman, Stuart found peace and excitement in fishing and hunting. He loved spending time outside surrounded by nature and animals, another lifelong passion of his. His connection to animals reflected his gentle spirit and big heart.

Stuart was known for his kindness and generosity. A devoted father and grandfather, he poured love into his family with unwavering dedication. Though he faced the heartbreaking loss of his son Kent Trehus during his lifetime, Stuart’s strength never wavered as he continued to be a pillar of support for those around him.

Stuart is survived by his 6 kids; Austin (Son), Samantha (Daughter), Jessica (Daughter), Genora (Daughter), Daniel (Son), Heston (Son) and 9 Grandchildren. 

He is lovingly remembered by his siblings: Terry Justin (sister), Robert Trehus (brother), Susan Calvin (sister), and Lauretta Trehus (sister). 

He was preceded in death by his beloved son Kent Trehus; father Gayle Trehus; and Mother Betty Trehus. Stuart’s legacy lives on through the many lives he touched with his warmth, wisdom, and unwavering devotion. May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him.
