Malepsy, age 62 of Backus, MN, formerly of Litchfield, MN, died unexpectedly on Friday February 1, 2019 at the St. Cloud Hospital. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday February 8, 2019 at Zion Lutheran Church in Litchfield, MN. Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 7:00 PM on Thursday at Johnson-Hagglund Funeral and Cremation Service in Litchfield. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to the service at church on Friday. Interment will be in Ripley Cemetery, Litchfield, MN. Steven Casey Malepsy, the son of Stanley and Pauline (Wayne) Malepsy, was born on December 1, 1956 in Albert Lea, MN. He graduated from the Albert Lea High School in 1975 and continued his education at Bemidji State University. He married his high school sweetheart, Lois Rust, at the Oakland Lutheran Church on December 15, 1979. Steve and Lois were blessed with three sons Jon Michael, David Casey and Brian Mitchell. They spent most of their married time in Litchfield, MN raising their family before moving to Backus to live their dream on a lake in Northern MN. Steve was a member of Zion Lutheran Church. He loved nature; hunting and fishing were lifelong passions that he shared with his sons. Nothing was more important than spending time with his family and his dog, Casey. He was an avid sports fan, and loved watching his sons wrestle and play ball. He enjoyed traveling with Lois, good food and a cold IPA beer, cooking on his wood pellet grill, music, and “putzing” in his yard and garage. He will live forever in our hearts. Steve is survived by his wife Lois of Backus; sons Jon and his wife Kori of Fresno, CA, David and his fiancé Christina Rhein of St. Paul, MN, and Brian and his fiancé Sabeen Safdar of Overland Park, KS; and his sister Jane Lucini and her husband Paul of Fresno, CA. He was preceded in death by his parents Stanley and Pauline.
