Steven C. Hillman, age 70, died on Sunday, November 26, 2017 peacefully surrounded by his family and friends at his home in Litchfield. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, December 2, 2017, at the Zion Lutheran Church in Litchfield. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Friday, December 1st at the church and will continue one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in the Ripley Cemetery with military honors by the Litchfield Military Honor Guard.
Steven Charles Hillman, the son of LeRoy and Alma (Steinberg) Hillman, was born on March 7, 1947 in Minneapolis. He grew up in Litchfield and graduated from Litchfield High School in 1965. He continued his education at Alexandria Technical School. Steve served for six years in the Minnesota National Guard. After his schooling he returned to Litchfield and began farming. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church. Steve enjoyed fishing and spending time at the cabin on Diamond Lake. He was a regular with the early morning coffee group at McDonalds, Swan’s at lunch, and in the afternoon at Cenex. His true love was farming and being out in the field. He had a big soft spot for his grand niece and nephew, Paizli and Hilton.
He is survived by his brother James Hillman of Litchfield; sister Susan (and Alvin) Stern of Litchfield; niece Sarah (and Jesse) Johnson of Litchfield; nephew Adam Stern of Sherman Oaks, CA; grand niece and nephew Paizli and Hilton Johnson. Also, special family members, Muriel Putzier, Gail Nelson and Jim Putzier. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
