Shirley J. Swanger, age 85, of Litchfield, died on Friday, November 1, 2013 at the Meeker Memorial Hospital in Litchfield, MN. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, November 5, 2013 at the St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Litchfield. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Monday, November 4, 2013 at Johnson-Hagglund Funeral Home and will continue one hour prior to the service at church on Monday. Interment will be in the Lake Ripley Cemetery, Litchfield, MN. Shirley June Swanger, the daughter of Christian and Rachael (Schultz) Thompson, was born on June 2, 1928 in Forest Prairie Township, MN. On June 21, 1946, she was united in marriage to Harold Swanger in Litchfield. Together they lived in Litchfield and Minneapolis, before returning to Litchfield in 1982. She was a member of the St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Litchfield and the V.F.W. Auxiliary. She enjoyed babysitting, word searches, crafts, ceramics, plaster craft, embroidery and crocheting. She is survived by her children, Lois (and Dennis) Rumpza, Marilyn (and Kenneth) Leiran, and Nancy (and Joel) Chinnick; 4 grandchildren; 5 step-grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; 12 step-great grandchildren; 1 step-great great grandchild.
