Shirley A. Newgaard

Shirley A. Newgaard, age 76, of Litchfield died late Tuesday, November 30, 2010, at the Meeker Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 9:30AM on Monday, December 6, 2010 at the Cornerstone Church in Litchfield, MN, with Pastor Jeff Garland officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Shirley Ann Newgaard, the daughter of Arthur and Mabel (Fratzke) Ruths, was born January 13, 1934 in Minneapolis, MN. She graduated from Minneapolis Vocational High School in 1952. On August 5, 1961 she was united in marriage to Warren Newgaard in Brooklyn Center, MN. Together they lived in St. Louis Park, MN and in 1993 moved to Dunn Lake in Forest City Township. She worked at NSP in the general accounting department. Shirley was a member of the Brook Park Baptist Church in Brooklyn Center, MN. She volunteered at Hopkins School. She enjoyed crafts, painting, printing, making cards and artistic painting on wood. Shirley is survived by her husband Warren of Litchfield, MN; children Cindy (Dan) Franey of Chandler, AZ, and Glenn Newgaard of Lakeville, MN; grandchildren Rian Franey U.S.A.F. of AZ, Bridgette (Kyle) Stahn of AZ, Brianna Franey of AZ; great granddaughter Adette Stahn of AZ; sisters Bernie Coder of Brooklyn Park, MN and Laura Ruths of New Hope, MN and many nieces and nephews.
