Shirley Esther Erickson

Shirley E. Erickson, age 85, of Litchfield died on Thursday, August 6, 2020, at her home. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, August 11, 2020, at the Ripley Cemetery in Litchfield. Shirley Esther Erickson, the second child of Ralph W. Holbrook and Eleanor M (Sveum) Holbrook, was born on April 15, 1935, at Rugby, North Dakota. Shirley spent her years growing up in Sandpoint, Idaho and Stanton, Minnesota. She graduated in 1954, from Randolph High School , Randolph, Minnesota. On June 5, 1955, she was united in marriage to Earl Eugene Erickson in Northfield, MN. They had three children, Roxanne Marie, Earl Eugene Jr and Paul Edward. Shirley and her family have lived in numerous places in Virginia, Minnesota, Iowa, and Wisconsin; most notably, Norfolk Virginia as a Navy Wife while Earl served in the US Navy. She lived in Mabel, Minnesota and Portage, Wisconsin where she worked as a Beautician. Shirley and Earl made their last move to Litchfield in 2001. Shirley was a lifetime member of the VFW Auxiliary and the Meeker County Navy Club. She attended First Lutheran Church and Cornerstone Church of Litchfield for the past six years. On October 5, 2007, she married Delton D. Rick. Shirley enjoyed spending time with her family, flower gardening, family get togethers, trips to the Casino and her pets. Shirley is survived by her children Roxanne (Les) Gruwell, Earl Erickson Jr, And Paul Erickson. Also survived are her eight grandchildren: Pauline Collins, Justin (Sheena) Boop, Gene Erickson, Andrew Erickson, Courtney Erickson (Audric), Stefan Erickson, Jennilyn (Joel) Tannesen, Maureen Erickson, five great grandchildren: Taylyn, Wyatt, Kieran Lyla and Finn and brother Ralph Holbrook. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents Ralph and Eleanor Holbrook; step mother Evelyn Holbrook, husbands Earl E. Erickson Sr and Delton D. Rick; sister Eleanor Bogue and step brother William Holbrook.
