Sandra K. Simmons

Sandra Simmons, 53 of Watkins, passed away Thursday, July 28, 2011 at the Meeker Memorial Hospital. Visitation will be Sunday, July 31, 2011 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at the Ertl Funeral Home in Watkins. A rosary will be prayed at 4:00 pm on Sunday at the funeral home. No services will be held. Sandra Simmons was born on September 18, 1957 at Pound, Virginia. She was the daughter of Samuel and Magalene (Mullins) Anderson. She grew up and received her education in Pekin, Indiana. On September 3, 1977, Sandra was united in marriage to Allen Simmons at the St. Anthony Catholic Church in Watkins. She enjoyed being a homemaker and caring for her family. She was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church and a member of the Council of Catholic Women. Sandra enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, gardening, flowers, and arts and crafts. She especially enjoyed playing with her grandchildren and spending time with her family. Sandra passed away following a 13 year battle with cancer. Sandra is survived by her husband, Allen Simmons of Watkins; children and their spouses, Orwin Aaron and Stef Simmons of Woodward, IA, Dacia and Michael Francis of Hampton, VA, Brittnay Simmons of Watkins; 6 grandchildren; brothers and sisters and their spouses, Madonna and Mark Hurst, Kim and Ron Thompson, April and Mac Magner, Timmy and Cody Anderson, Greg Anderson, Ellis Anderson and his friend, Chastity, Sammy and Jennifer Anderson, Bradley and Kelly Anderson, Shannon and Beth Anderson, all of Pekin, IN. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister-in-law, Sis Anderson.
