Ruth Ann Klug

Ruth A. Klug, age 81, of Litchfield, died on Monday, June 20, 2011, at her daughter's home in Moorhead, MN under the care of hospice. Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 24, 2011 at 11:00 AM at Zion Lutheran Church in Litchfield. Visitation will be held from 5:00 until 7:00 PM at Zion Lutheran Church in Litchfield on Thursday. Interment will be in Lake Ripley Cemetery. Ruth Ann (Warnes) Klug, daughter of Arthur Conrad and Ragna Olive (Silnes) Warnes, was born on July 16, 1929 at the family farm in rural Karlstad, MN. She was baptized, confirmed, and wed at Eidsvold Lutheran Church in Halma, MN. Ruth graduated from Karlstad High School and attended Concordia College for one year before transferring to Moorhead State Teachers College and getting her Associate in Education degree. After graduation she taught in Breckenridge, MN for two years. She was united in marriage to John Waldo Klug on June 7, 1952. They made their home in Perham, MN where Ruth taught for one year in a one room country schoolhouse. They continued living in Perham until 1957 when they moved to Litchfield, MN. She was a stay at home mom until her kids were all school age. She then went back to work as an aide in the classroom at St. Philips School and both Ripley and Wagner Elementary Schools. She loved being back working with kids but it was important to her that she could be home before and after school for her own family. Ruth was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church where she was involved in WELCA, Circle and Mission Sewing. She was also a member of the Litchfield Lioness Club. Ruth loved to sew and garden and especially enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Ruth is survived by, children Cindy Klug of Moorhead, MN. Dave (Kathy) Klug of Fargo, ND, Jim (Lori) Klug of Eau Claire, WI, Jana (Curt) Kasper of Moorhead, MN, and 9 grandchildren; Kristen (and Steve) Reinertson, John Samuelson, Lindsey and Jason Klug, Emily and Abby Jo Klug, Joe, Elizabeth and Katie Kasper. She is also survived by her sisters, Gail Anderson of Plymouth and Elaine (Paul) Putnam of St. Augustine, FL, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Ruth is preceded in death by her parents, husband John, infant daughter and sister Ardys Growette.
