Ruth Fricke

Ruth O. Fricke, age 96, of Litchfield, MN died at the Meeker Memorial Hospital in Litchfield, MN, on Friday, February 25, 2011. She had been ill and in Emmanuel Nursing Home for 8 years. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, April 8, 2011 at First Lutheran Church, Litchfield, MN. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at church on Friday. Interment will be held at Lake Ripley Cemetery, Litchfield, MN. Ruth Olivia Fricke, the daughter of John and Dora (Anderson) Davis, was born on October 26, 1914 in Luther, Iowa. She graduated from Madrid, Iowa High School, and was united in marriage to George Fricke in Madrid, Iowa on March 7, 1934. They became farmers near Ames, Iowa and moved to the Glenville, MN area in the late 1940's. They later purchased a farm close to Litchfield where they farmed for many years. Ruth worked for Pfeifer Produce in Litchfield, the Meeker County Hospital and the Litchfield Sewing Company. She owned and operated a catering business for 20 years in Litchfield, where she enjoyed making cakes and later catered complete meals. She was a 4-H leader in Litchfield for 15 years, a member of the Good Sams Camping Club and an active member of First Lutheran Church in Litchfield, MN. She enjoyed camping, picnic suppers at Diamond Lake, knitting, crocheting and making afghans for her entire family. George and Ruth were married for 70 years and spent many winters in Arizona on ""retirement"". Ruth is survived by her sons, Gerald (and Jan) Fricke of Phoenix, AZ, David (and Diane) Fricke of Alexandria, MN, John (and Margaret) Fricke of Fridley, MN and Michael (and Ida) Fricke of Omaha, NE; 11 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren.
