Ronald Russell Wendroth

Ronald R. Wendroth, age 83, of Watkins, died on Saturday, October 26, 2013 at the Hilltop Health Care Center in Watkins. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 2, 2013, at the Church of God in Eden Valley. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services at the church. Interment will be in the Fort Ripley Veteran's Cemetery on Friday, November 1, 2013. Ronald Russell Wendroth, the son of Elmer and Esther (Coulter) Wendroth, was born on April 23, 1930, near Eden Valley. He grew up on the home farm and attended country school. He served in the US Army during the Korean War with the 179th tank company of the 45th Division from May of 1952 to August 1953. After his service he returned to the family farm and farmed for about four years. He went to work at Cold Spring Granite. On June 2, 1954, he was united in marriage to Margaret Helen Sullivan at the St. Peter's Rectory in Eden Valley. In the early 1960's they moved off the homestead but, remained near Eden Valley until they moved to Grove City in 1994 when Ronald retired from Cold Spring Granite. They moved to Litchfield and lived there for about four years before returning to Grove City. Ronald also worked for Fingerhut for 8 years in security. He was a life member of the VFW and American legion. He enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing and snowmobiling. Ron also loved spending time with his family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Margaret Wendroth of Watkins, children, Julann (and Roger) Mitteness of Benson, Joy Rotert (and Fiancé Kevin Kocmich) of Litchfield and Jim (and Roseann) Wendroth of Eden Valley, seven grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers Wilmer (and Rose) Wendroth of Cross Lake, Leland Wendroth and friend Edie of Richmond, sisters Beulah Goering of Albert Lea and Ruby Wendroth of Spicer.
