Ronald H. Schermann, age 48, of Manannah died at his home on Sunday April 8, 2012, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. A Mass of Christian Funeral will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, April 13, 2012, at theChurch of St. Philip in Litchfield, MN with Father Joseph Steinbeisser officiating. Visitation will be on Thursday, April 12, 2012 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the church with a parish prayer service at 8:00 PM.
Ronald Hubert Schermann, the son of Hubert and Margaret (Mallak) Schermann, was born on November 3, 1963, in Hutchinson, MN. He attended and graduated from Silver Lake High School, where he loved to play sports and made many life-long friends. On March 5, 1999, he was united in marriage to Rachel Thurston in St. Michael. Together they made their home south of Litchfield for a few years before moving east of Manannah to a home they built about ten years ago. Ron worked as a rural mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service for several years prior to his cancer diagnosis, which he enjoyed greatly. Ron also enjoyed everything about the outdoors. Throughout his life he trapped, snowmobiled, hunted, and fished (summer and winter) extensively with friends and family. Ron will be remembered as a good man of few words who lived a good life with a calm and positive demeanor. He will also be remembered for his unique fashion sense and as a wonderful father. He is survived by his wife Rachel of Manannah, sons, Jakob and Zachary Schermann of Manannah, his parents Hubert and Margaret Schermann of Silver Lake, sisters Dianna (and Peter) Olson of Golden Valley, Debra Jaqua of Minnetonka and Pam (and Pat) Squires of Marshfield.
