Romel C. Lembke

Romel C. Lembke, age 83 of Litchfield, MN, died on Wednesday, October 1, 2014, at the Ecumen Emmanuel Home in Litchfield, MN. Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2:00 PM on October 12, 2014 at the First Lutheran Church in Litchfield. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at church. Interment will be held at the Lake Ripley Cemetery in Litchfield, MN. Romel Caroline Lembke, the daughter of Ray and Esther (Sandlund) Opsahl was born on April 6, 1931 in French Lake, MN. She received her education at the Happy Corner Country School in rural French Lake and graduated from Cokato High School. Romel was united in marriage to Albert Hess on February 14, 1948 in Litchfield, MN and was later united in marriage to Richard Lembke on April 1, 1983 in Litchfield, MN. She was a member of the First Lutheran Church. Throughout her life she lived in French Lake, rural Forest City and Litchfield. She enjoyed traveling, fishing, camping, gardening, canning, doing puzzle books, talking about history, geography and the weather and spending time with friends and family at the lake. Romel enjoyed sewing and made many bridesmaid dresses, Halloween costumes and outfits for kiddie parades. She is survived by her children Darlene (Rick) Ebeling of Owatonna, MN, Janet (Ron) Solomonson of Deer Creek, MN, Ron Hess of Gillette, Wyoming, Sharon (significant other Donald Hieserich) Galloway of St. Joseph, MN, Roger Hess of Redmond, Oregon and Donna (Dwayne) Kelley of Center City, MN; 13 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; sisters Ardis Andrews of Seattle, WA, Grace Grover of Seattle, WA and Marjorie Brummond of Litchfield, MN; sister-in-law Levina Opsahl of Annandale, brother-in-law Robert Lembke of Alexandria, MN; very special family friend Jean Yob of Hutchinson, MN; many nieces and nephews and extended family friends.
