Roger Clayton Bremseth

Roger Clayton Bremseth passed away at his home on Thursday, August 28, 2014, at the age of 80 after being on hospice for a short time due to kidney failure. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, September3, 2014, at the First Presbyterian Church in Litchfield. Visitation will be on Tuesday, September 2nd from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the Johnson-Hagglund Funeral Home in Litchfield. Burial will be in the Appleton City Cemetery in Appleton, MN. He was born April 30, 1934, the youngest child of Richard O. and Alma (Pederson) Bremseth in their rural Lac qui parle home. He was baptized and confirmed at Minnesota Valley Lutheran Church of rural Madison, MN. He attended school in Appleton, MN and graduated there in 1952. He then joined the U.S. Air Force and was stationed in Roswell, New Mexico, where he worked as an aircraft electrician. During his .time in the Air Force he was sent to Lakenheath, England on a special mission during the Khrushchev threats. In 1955 he married his loving wife Barbara. To this union two children, Jeffery Allen and Julie Rae were born. The family lived in Roswell, NM; Escondido, CA; and Appleton, Minneapolis, Richfield, Willmar and Litchfield in Minnesota. Roger was a man of many talents who could fix most anything or build whatever was needed. He worked at Rosemount Engineering Company while living in Richfield and while in Willmar was in charge of the meter department for Kandiyohi Electric Co-op. Roger was an avid hunter and fisherman and he and Barbara loved the many years they were able to spend at their lake cabin on Middle Leaf Lake near Henning, MN. He had many prize fish and a record deer mount. He passed the love of the outdoors on to his son and grandsons and looked forward to the times with them, his brothers, and many nephews on the hunt or in the boat. He is survived by his wife, Barbara, son Jeffery (LaNette) Bremseth; daughter Julie Rae (Gordy) Pennertz; grandchildren Aaron (Stefany) Butler, Daniel (Callie) Bremseth, Jordan Bremseth, Richard (Heidi) Pennertz, Matthew (Beth) Pennertz, Stephen (Julie)Pennertz, David (Katie) Pennertz, Tina Pennertz and Christa (fiance Jacob Joseph) Pennertz. Great Grandchildren: Griffin Butler, step-great Taylor and Alex Draeger; Great-grandchildren Ariel, William, Viola, Rebekah & Conor Pennertz; Magdalene, Acacia & Naomi Pennertz; Allie Rae Pennertz. Sisters Ardyce Albrecht and Gloria Johnson of Montevideo and brother Wyllis (LaVonne) Bremseth of Glenwood. Sisters-in-law Ardith Waldon of Appleton, MN, Betty (Don) Gades of St. Cloud and Sandra (John) Albrecht of Montevideo, former daughter-in-law Debra Bremseth, as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Alma, brothers Loren (Lois) Bremseth, Richard A. Bremseth, his in-laws Arvid and Anna Mae Johnson; Brother-in -laws Joel Johnson, CA ""Bud"" Albrecht and Paul Waldon Jr. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
