Roberta A. Gaarder

Roberta A. Gaarder, age 78, of Grove City, MN died on June 18, 2015 at the St. Cloud Hospital. A Celebration of Life will be held at 4:00 PM on Sunday, June 21, 2015 at the First Baptist Church in Grove City, MN. A visitation will be held from 2:00 - 4:00 PM on Sunday at the church. A private family burial will be held at a later date. Roberta Ann Gaarder, the daughter of Jerome and Edna (Budenskie) Johnson, was born in Minneapolis on January 23, 1937. She received her education at South High School in Minneapolis, MN. She was united in marriage to Marle Gaarder on June 13, 1953 in Iowa. Throughout her life she lived in Minneapolis, Fridley and Watkins before moving to Grove City. She worked at Fingerhut, Marle's auto body shop and as a teachers aid along with raising her family and helping on the family farm. She was a member of Ostmark Lutheran Church and enjoyed going to the First Baptist Church in Grove City and the Florence Baptist Church in AZ. She enjoyed camping, fishing, canoeing, snowmobiling, dancing, singing, playing the organ, baking, sewing, going to Arizona during the winter and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Roberta is survived by her husband Marle Gaarder Sr. of Grove City, MN; children Cathy (Randall) Payne of Blaine, MN, Mark (Julie) Gaarder of Buffalo, MN and Marle Jr. (Suzan) Gaarder Jr. of Grove City, MN; grandchildren Christina (Joseph) Kurhajetz, Jennessa (Brandon) Thompson, Dustin (Heather) Gaarder, Angela (Aaron) Fouquette, Ashley Gaarder and Alicia Gaarder; great grandchildren Elizabeth Kurhajetz, Jacob Kurhajetz, Kaylee Thompson, Mya Thompson, baby boy Thompson, Avery Gaarder and Isabel Fouquette; brother James Johnson of Cannon Falls, MN; sister Linda Johnson of Mapleton, MN; sister-in-law Lynn Sorenson of Shakopee, MN and niece Jennifer Sorenson of Shakopee, MN.
