Robert W. Kelly, 64 of Kimball, died Thursday, October 6, 2011 at the St. Cloud Veterans Administration Medical Center. Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 10, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. at the Ertl Funeral Home in Watkins. Chaplain Christopher Hill will officiate. Visitation will be Sunday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. and Monday from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. at the Ertl Funeral Home in Watkins. Interment will be at the MN State Veterans Cemetery in Little Falls at 2:00 p.m. on Monday. Robert W. Kelly was born on January 16, 1947 at Benham, KY. He was the son of Robert F. and Ruby (Roark) Kelly. He grew up and received his education in his home area. Robert served one tour of duty in the U.S. Army in Vietnam. He united in marriage to Janice Walters in South Dakota. Robert had worked as a coal miner in Benham, KY; at an aluminum foundry in Bloomington, MN; drove a grain truck for Donnay Farm Service in Watkins; was an over the road trucker; and worked as a yard hand at a Lumber Co. in Erlanger, KY. His hobbies included stock car racing on both the oval and figure 8 tracks and he raced at Elko Speedway, Raceway Park and Golden Spike Speedway for many years. He enjoyed playing bingo, pool and cards, and he also enjoyed fishing and scratch off games. Robert is survived by his children and their spouses, Jerry and Sandy Kelly of Kimball, Kim and David Maurer of Fairhaven, Sheryl and Kit Miller of Watkins; 12 grandchildren; brother, George Kelly of WI and sister, Ruby Ann Kelly of NY. He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Brad Maurer; and sisters, Betty Morgan and Dottie Jean Kelly.
