Robert D. Holland, age 68, passed away peacefully at his home in Litchfield on Tuesday, July 17, 2018. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, July 24 at Ostmark Lutheran Church. Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 7:00 PM on Monday at Ostmark Lutheran Church and will continue one hour prior to the service at church. Interment will be in Ostmark Lutheran Cemetery. Military Honors will be provided by the Litchfield Military Honor Guard.
Robert Dean Holland was born July 5, 1950 in Buffalo, MN, graduated from Buffalo High School and proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps. Robert and Susan (Silvis) were joined in marriage on March 21, 1987. Rob loved time with his family. He enjoyed hunting and especially ice fishing at the Lake of the Woods.
With Rob & Sue’s passion for farming, combines and harvest, they owned and operated Holland Harvesting, Inc. Their annual harvest with their hardworking and dedicated crew began in north Texas, went through the Great Plain States up to Saskatchewan, Canada and finished with fall harvest in South Dakota and Minnesota. They took pride in treating their customer’s harvest as if it was their own and built many lasting relationships. Rob’s oval and cross-country snowmobile racing started in 1965. In 1975 he earned recognition and the rights to begin a Sno Pro career with Arctic Cat Superstock. In addition to the many snowmobile wins and championships, a highlight was that he qualified and raced in Sweden.
Robert is lovingly remembered by his wife, Susan; children, William (LeAnn) Holland, Anna (Peter) Neubauer, Katherine Holland and Victoria Holland; grandchildren, Peter Loiacono and Isabella Petersen; brothers and sisters, Janet (Larry) Bengtson, Bradley (Rita) Holland, Bernice (Tom) Parquette and Daniel (Kim) Holland; and many nieces, nephews, family members and friends. Robert is preceded in death by his parents, Ervin and Sylvia Holland of Buffalo, MN.
