Richard 'Dick' J. Larson

Richard J. 'Dick' Larson, age 80, of Litchfield, died on Saturday, June 1, 2013, at the Ecumen Emmanuel Nursing Home in Litchfield, MN. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, June 5, 2013 at the Zion Lutheran Church, Litchfield, MN. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 5:00 - 8:00 PM at Johnson-Hagglund Funeral Home and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church. Military Honors will be provided by the Litchfield Military Honor Guard. Interment will be in the Ripley Cemetery. Richard John 'Dick' Larson, the son of Alfred and Alice (Anderson) Larson, was born on July 11, 1932, in Kerkhoven, MN. He graduated from Kerkhoven High School and continued his education, graduating from Augsburg College. He served the US Army overseas in Italy and Austria. Dick was united in marriage to Peg Borchardt in Hazen, North Dakota on July 20, 1958. Together they made their home in Minot, Moorhead, Donaldson, and Madison, before settling in Litchfield in 1966. Dick spent most of his working career with Cargill grain elevators and as a salesman with Allied Chemical. He was an active member of the Zion Lutheran Church, the V.F.W. and the American Legion. He enjoyed fishing, trips to the casino, talking with people and telling stories, having coffee at Swans Café, woodworking and making Faith Chests for Zion Lutheran Church. He is survived by his son Greg; daughter Laurie; and nieces and nephews.
