Reuben A. Bergquist

Reuben A. Bergquist, age 89, of Litchfield, died on January 30, 2011 at the Lakeview Ranch Care Home in Dassel, MN. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, February 1, 2011 at Zion Lutheran Church, Litchfield, MN, with Pastor Harvey Nelson and Pastor Christian Muellerleile officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be held in the spring at Arndahl Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the Dementia Care Foundation. Reuben Arvid Bergquist was born to Arvid and Sara (Stromberg) Bergquist on April 26, 1921 in rural Dassel, MN. He attended country schools, District 90 Dahl and District 88 Stockholm before graduating from Cokato High School in 1939. On March 24, 1946, he was united in marriage to Ardelle Nelson at Arndahl Lutheran Church. Reuben farmed near Greenleaf and retired in 1988. He was an active member of Arndahl Lutheran Church and later Zion Lutheran Church. He was on the Greenleaf Town board for over 20 years and past President of Litchfield Shipping. He enjoyed music, playing cards, playing guitar, and spending time with his family at the Bass Lake Cabin near Brainerd, MN. He is survived by his wife, Ardelle of Litchfield, MN; children, Judy (and Fritz) Brown of Edina, MN and Kevin (and Judy) Bergquist of Buffalo, MN; 6 grandchildren, Allison (and Ross) Hansen, Lindsay Brown, Ricky (and Angela) Brown, Catherine Brown, Kirsten (and Scott) Gabriel and Peter (and Brigitta) Bergquist; 2 great grandchildren Isaac Gabriel and Adelaide Brown; twin sister Ruby Lien of Litchfield, MN and sister Mary Ann Johnson of Cokato, MN.
