Raymond Ulrich

Raymond F. Ulrich, age 83, of Cosmos died on Thursday, April 29, 2010 at the Buffalo Lake Health Care Center. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 AM on Monday, May 3, 2010 at Peace Lutheran Church in Cosmos. Visitation will be on Sunday, from 3:00 PM until 6:00 PM at the church and will continue one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in the Cosmos Community Cemetery. Raymond Fred Ulrich, the son of Henry and Emily (Grady) Ulrich, was born on June 22, 1926 in Hutchinson Township, McLeod County. In 1945 he entered the US Army and served in the Pacific Theater. After his military service he returned to McLeod County and worked for Kraft then bought his own milk route but also worked for area farmers. On June 3, 1948, he was united in marriage to Eunice May Kaping at the Acoma Church. They made their home in Cosmos and Ray worked for Meeker County driving the road grader for nearly 35 years. Ray enjoyed camping, and keeping busy in the garden. His family was his pride and joy. Ray was a very hard working man that will be remembered as a gentle giant. Ray is survived by his children; Sheryl (and Edward) Berg of Luverne, MN, Larry (and Rebecca) Ulrich of Avon, MN, Kyle (and Jean) Ulrich of Stewart, MN, and NaLea (and Curt) Huls of Hutchinson, MN; 12 grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers; Herman Ulrich of Hutchinson and Harvey Ulrich of Hutchinson, sister Mildred Neubarth. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Eunice in October of 2009, sisters; Lois Hogan, Myrlo Homan, brother Leonard Ulrich and grandson Shane Bomstad.
