Sherman, age 82 of Litchfield, MN, died on Friday, October 31, 2014 at the Dassel Lakeside Healthcare Center. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday November 5, 2014 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Litchfield. Visitation will be held from 4-8 PM on Tuesday at Johnson-Hagglund Funeral Home in Litchfield and will continue one hour prior to the service at church. Interment will be held at the Lake Ripley Cemetery in Litchfield, MN on Thursday. Military Honors will be provided by the Litchfield Military Honor Guard. Rayland ""Ray"" Lloyd Sherman, the son of Edgar and Beatrice (Sather) Sherman, was born on August 14, 1932 in Franklin, MN. He was baptized and confirmed at Central Lutheran Church in Franklin, MN. He received his education at the District 124 school and helped work on his parents farm. He served in the US Army from 1953 to 1955, where he was stationed in Germany during the Korean Conflict. He was united in marriage to Judith Wallace at the St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Franklin on June 30, 1956. Ray drove gravel trucks and worked for the MN Department of Transportation. His job kept him moving, and before settling in Litchfield in 1976, he lived in Hector, Fairfax, Redwood Falls, Morton and Howard Lake. He was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Litchfield, the Darwin Rod and Gun Club, the Hutchinson 40/8 Club, the American Legion and was a life member of the V.F.W. club. Ray was a hard worker and an avid hunter of deer, bear, pheasants, ducks and geese. He always had a big garden every year to work in and loved going fishing. He collected guns and enjoyed camping, playing cards, bow hunting, being outdoors and spending time with family. He is survived by his wife Judith of Litchfield, MN; children Suzanne Albers of Litchfield, MN, Ken Sherman of Litchfield, MN and Sandy Sherman of Litchfield, MN; 4 grandchildren Cale Albers, Erin Albers, Megan LaRae Sherman and Abigail Rose Sherman; brothers Wallace Sherman of Marshall, MN and Robert Sherman of Bemidji, MN. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents Edgar and Beatrice; and daughter Renae RosePrevious Events
