Phillip McCormick

Phillip W. McCormick, age 81, of Litchfield, died on Sunday, October 25, 2009, at his home in Litchfield, MN. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, October 28, 2009 at the Church of St. Philip in Litchfield with Father Joseph Steinbeisser officiating. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Johnson-Hagglund Funeral Home with a Prayer Service at 7:00 PM. The Knights of Columbus will pray the Rosary at 9:30 AM on Wednesday at the Church of St. Philip. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Litchfield, MN. Phillip Warren McCormick, the son of Patrick and Bernadine (O’Fallon) McCormick, was born on February 9, 1928 in St. Paul, Minnesota. He grew up living in the Litchfield area and graduated from Litchfield High School in 1947. He was united in marriage to Betty Mortenson at the Church of St. Philip on June 16, 1947 in Litchfield, MN. Phillip drove truck for First District Association for 12 years, owned and operated Phil’s Southside Standard Station for 6 years and worked at 3M in Hutchinson, MN for 25 years. On August 19, 1995 he was united in marriage to Lottie Super-Kloss at the Church of St. Philip in Litchfield. He loved his Kubota tractors that he enjoyed using after his retirement for his snow removal and lawn care service. Phil was an active member of the Church of St. Philip and the Knights of Columbus. He was also an active member of the community, serving on the Litchfield Rescue Squad for 16 years, the Litchfield Fire Department for 22 years and was a charter member of the Litchfield Eagles Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, watching sports, working outdoors and spending time with his family and friends. Phillip is survived by his wife Lottie of Litchfield, MN; children Chuck (and Sharon) McCormick of Parker, CO, David (and Wendy) McCormick of Gillette, Wyoming, Greg (and Wanda) McCormick of Dassel, MN, Tom (and fiancée Traci King) McCormick of Litchfield, MN and Jenny McCormick of Litchfield, MN; 5 step-children Kathy (and Brad) Thompson of Madelia, MN, Tim (and Amy) Kloss of Mankato, MN, Tom (and Nichole) Kloss of Dassel, MN, Joe (and Deb) Kloss of Atwater, MN and Patty Jones of Brainerd, MN; 8 grandchildren Shawn McCormick of St. Augustine, Florida, Mitch McCormick of Littleton, Colorado, Greta Evans of Gillette, Wyoming, Cassie King of Gillette, Wyoming, Greg McCormick of Gillette, Wyoming, Stacie McCormick of Litchfield, Dylan McCormick of Dassel, MN and Patrick McCormick of Litchfield, MN; 7 step-grandchildren Andy Thompson, Katie Thompson, Lauren Kloss, Sydney Kloss, Brook Kloss, Kelsay Kloss and Lindsay Kloss, 11 great grandchildren; sister Mary McGraith of Janesville, MN; and a sister-in-law Phyllis McCormick of Litchfield, MN. He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife Betty in 1994; a brother Pat; and an infant son John.
