Peter R. Olson

Peter R. Olson, age 53, of Litchfield, MN, died on Thursday, April 21, 2011 at the St. Cloud Hospital. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, April 26, 2011 at the United Lutheran Church of Lake Lillian with Pastor Art Wiese officiating. A visitation will be held from 5:00 - 8:00 PM on Monday at Johnson-Hagglund Funeral Home, Litchfield, MN and for one hour prior to the service at church on Tuesday. Interment will be held in the Lake Lillian Community Cemetery, Lake Lillian, MN. Peter ""Pete"" Ray Olson, the son of Raynold and Solway ""Sally"" (Erickson) Olson, was born on March 16, 1958 in Litchfield, MN. He was baptized and confirmed in Lake Lillian and graduated from the Bird Island-Lake Lillian High School in 1976. He continued his education at the Willmar and Fergus Falls Community Colleges and lived in Nome, Alaska for a short time before returning to Litchfield. Pete was united in marriage to Debbra Lambert in Lake Lillian on November 19, 1983. He was a postal worker throughout his career, starting as a mail carrier, working as a clerk and finally becoming Postmaster in Cosmos and Elrosa, MN, until he retired in 2009. Pete was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Litchfield, MN, the Sons of the American Legion and NAPUS. He was a sports fanatic and enjoyed playing fast pitch softball for the Hanson Silo Team in Lake Lillian, slow pitch softball in Litchfield and coaching little league and T-Ball. He also enjoyed golfing, throwing horseshoes, bowling and playing broomball. He loved spending time gardening, pheasant hunting, playing fantasy football, watching horse races and all sporting events. Pete will be remembered for his twinkling eyes and infectious smile, as the green thumb of the family, for his love of the outdoors and dogs. He is survived by his wife, Debbra ""Deb"" Olson of Litchfield, MN; mother, Solway ""Sally"" (Erickson) Olson of Fergus Falls, MN; sister, Karen (and Tom) Prischmann of Fergus Falls, MN; brothers-in-law, Randy Lambert and Steve (and Mary) Lambert; sister-in-law, Pat (and friend Rudy Schroer) Bartlett; 15 nieces and nephews, Hope (and Daniel), Erinn, Mark (and Gracia), Amy (and Mike), Jesse, Jaci (and Curt), Josh, Joe (and fiancee Nancy), Kristina (and Joe), Lela, Viktor, Jeremiah, Rosalina, Chad, and Joette (and Andrew); and 12 great nieces and nephews, Seth, Luke, Grace, Kathryn, Joel, Jayden, Jamisen, Bryce, Wyatte, Brittany, Derek and Tiffany. He is preceded in death by his father, Raynold E.
