Olive Knotts

Olive C. Knotts, 95, of Litchfield, died on Thursday, April 22, 2010 at the Providence Place in Minneapolis, MN. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, April 26, 2010 at the Litchfield Christian Church with Pastor Mike Zylstra officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in Lake Ripley Cemetery, Litchfield, MN. Olive Catherine Knotts was born in Yellow Springs, Ohio on February 11, 1915 to Elmer Ellsworth and Susie (Scheffel) Wolf. The family moved shortly to rural Springfield, Ohio, where she grew up. She received her education in Plattsburg, Ohio graduating from Plattsburg High School in 1933. She worked at Crowell Collier Publishing Co. in Springfield and at Patterson Field near Dayton, Ohio, before continuing her education in Dayton, Ohio where she graduated from nursing school at the Good Samaritan Hospital in July of 1947 under the cadet program. Olive married Howard M. Knotts, July 12, 1947 at her home near Springfield and came immediately to Litchfield, MN so that Howard could look after his parents, who were retired there. His parents had been caring for his small daughter Twilla Ann since her mothers death. Howard and Olive had 3 sons, Merrill Norell, John Howard and William Ellsworth. She was a registered nurse for 25 years at the Meeker Memorial Hospital in Litchfield where she was a night shift supervisor. Olive was a member of the Litchfield Christian Church in Litchfield and enjoyed being a caregiver, a homemaker and sewing. Olive is survived by her sons Merrill Knotts of Minneapolis, MN and John Knotts of Waseca, MN; daughter Twilla Roue of Fosston, MN; grandchildren Jill (and Mark) Burggraf, Linda (and John) Beuckens, Jerry (and Dondi) Roue, Chad (and Denise) Roue, Jason Roue and Timothy (and Angie) Roue; 12 great grandchildren; and a sister-in-law Elma Wolf of Springfield, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her parents Elmer and Susie; husband Howard, brother John and a son William.
