Nellie Martin

Nellie J. Martin, age 87, of Grove City, MN, died on Monday, April 20, 2009 at the Emmanuel Nursing Home in Litchfield, MN. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, April 24, 2009 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Grove City, MN with Pastor Jean Smith officiating. Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 8:00 PM on Thursday at the Johnson-Hagglund Funeral Home, Litchfield, MN, and will continue one hour prior to the service at church on Friday. Interment will be in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Grove City, MN. Nellie Jauline Martin, the daughter of and Paul and Ida (Larson) Berg, was born on November 20, 1921 in Darwin Township, Meeker County, MN. She attended Litchfield High School, graduating in 1940. She was united in marriage to William “Bill” Martin in Litchfield on May 17, 1942. Nellie lived in rural Grove City most of her married life. She was a homemaker and also worked at Carlson Meat Market, Nelson Brothers and was a waitress. She was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Grove City, MN. She enjoyed visiting, going to garage sales, giving her grandchildren rides to their activities and attending her grandchildren’s sporting events. Nellie is survived by her children Julie (and Bernie) Kielty of Watkins, MN, David (and Lori) Martin of Grove City, MN, Paul (and Gaye) Martin of Grove City, MN and Brian (and Bonnie) Martin of Grove City, MN; 14 grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Bill; daughter Judy; son Dwayne; grandson Aaron; 12 brothers and sisters.
