Nelda M. Horwath, age 69 of New London, MN, died on Sunday, August 27, 2017 at the Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar, MN. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, September 16, 2017 at the St. Matthew's United Church of Christ in Forest City, MN. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at church. Interment will be held in the Forest City Cemetery.
Nelda Mae Horwath, the daughter of Lawrence and June (Rohrbeck) Horwath was born on July 2, 1948 in Litchfield, MN. Nelda grew up on a farm with her family and moved to Forest City in 1955. In 1956 she was admitted to the Cambridge Regional Center and moved to a group home in New London, MN in 1990. She worked at a special program in Atwater, MN where she retired at age 62. Nelda enjoyed music, lipstick and Hershey Candy Bars. She looked forward to singing and taking part in the Christmas Parties at the Divine Home. She loved to visit and always had the biggest smile when you talked to her. She adored visiting with men, often covering her face and grin with her hands, especially when the brothers-in-law would visit.
Nelda is survived by her siblings Junice Anderson of Kingston, MN, Monica Pallies of Cold Spring, MN, Larry Horwath of St. Cloud, MN, Charlotte Fischer (Al Lewis) of Forest City, MN, Faye Garding of Watkins, MN, and Tom (Joyce) Wilson of Kimball, MN; many nieces, nephews and friends in New London, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents Lawrence and June.
