Myron Elmer Mielke

Myron E. Mielke, age 78, died on Wednesday, January 8, 2014 peacefully at is home in Litchfield. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, January 11, 2014, at the St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Cedar Mills. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Friday, January 10th at the Johnson-Hagglund Funeral Home in Litchfield and will continue one hour prior to the service at church. Interment will be in the St. John Lutheran Cemetery in Cedar Mills. Myron Elmer Walter Mielke, the son of George and Edna (Karels) Mielke, was born on August 2, 1935, in Winsted Township, Minnesota. He grew up and attended country school near Cedar Mills after his family began farming there. On October 1, 1960, he was united in marriage to Jeanette Block at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Hutchinson. He farmed and milked cows on the family farm until he sold the cows in 1972. They moved to Litchfield in 1973, and in 1974, he began working at the Litchfield Woolen Mills. He worked at Litchfield Woolen Mills until it closed in 1998. He was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Cedar Mills. Myron enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing, gardening and in his early years, riding snowmobile. He also liked to play cards and listen to ""old time' music. He is survived by his wife Jeanette Mielke of Litchfield; daughter, Debra (Scott) Engfer of Litchfield; grandson, Travis Engfer (fiancée Nikki) of Watkins; great grandsons, Brandon Engfer and Austin Engfer. He is also survived by his brother Merlin Mielke of Arizona, nieces, and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Edna Mielke, father-in-law and mother-in-law, Tony and Margaret Block, brother-in-law, Delton Block, and sister-in-law Elvira Mielke.
