Miranda A. Smith, age 93, of Litchfield, died on Monday, September 15, 2008 at the Meeker Memorial Hospital. A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 19, 2008 at 11:00 AM at the United Methodist Church in Litchfield with Pastor Bill Kerr officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in Lake Ripley Cemetery.
Miranda Alvina Smith the daughter of Edward and Emma (Blaurock) Kelm was born on July 6, 1915 in Eden Township, Stearns County, Minnesota. Miranda grew up and received her education in the Eden Valley area. She was united in marriage to Harry Smith on January 16, 1936. They made their home in Litchfield where they built many homes together. Miranda had a passion for cleaning offices and homes in the area. The families that she cleaned for became an extension of hers. She helped with many household duties and taking care of the children and their activities. Miranda was an active member of the United Methodist Church. She was a wonderful homemaker, enjoyed cooking and baking for her family and friends. As well as gardening and traveling.
She is survived by her daughter, Harriet (Duane) Prieve of Litchfield, son, Duane (Noni) Smith of Dassel, grandchildren, Kimberly (Charles) Young and Kelli (Dave) Flammang, great grandchildren, Emma, Maddi, Molly, Erin and Adam. She is also survived by her sister, Lilian Wendroth of Eden Valley besides other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Harry, daughter Phyllis Smith and infant son Delmar.
