Mildred Eleanor Widmark

Midred E. Widmark, age 98, formerly of Litchfield, died on Wednesday, January 8, 2014, at the Good Samaritan Care Center in Waconia. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, January 11, 2014 at the Beckville Lutheran Church. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in the Beckville Lutheran Cemetery. Mildred Eleanor Widmark, the daughter of Henry Dahl and Ellen Widmark, was born on September 30 1915 in St. Paul, Minnesota. Her mother married Hans Olausen and Mildred took his last name. She grew up in South Minneapolis and attended Central Vocational Tech. On December 9, 1939, she was united in marriage to Arnold E. Widmark of Litchfield at the Messiah Lutheran Church in Minneapolis. They lived in Litchfield for about 4 years before buying the farm across the road from Beckville. After the children all left home, she worked for 9 years at Askeroth Paint and Wallpaper in Litchfield; in the store and also sewing drapes, bedspreads, and pillows. She and Arnold also cleaned the Norwest/Wells Fargo Bank in Litchfield for many years. After they retired from farming they sold the farm and lived in Litchfield from 1981-2005. In 2005, she moved to Waconia. She was a member of the Beckville Lutheran Church. Mildred enjoyed quilting, sewing, gardening, cooking, baking and crafts. She is survived by her daughters, Carolyn Monson of Sacramento, CA, Elizabeth (and Terry) Holgate of Waconia; sons, Thomas (and Jane) Widmark of Edina, and Paul (and Jill) Widmark of Sachse, TX; grandchildren, Barry, Jennifer, Mary, Christopher, Amy, Emilie and Betsy, and five great-grandchildren. She is also survived by sisters-in-law, Vivian Olausen of Minnetonka, pat Olausen of Mission, TX, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arnold; sons, Anthony Earl ""Timmy"" Widmark, Russell Widmark; sisters, Marion (and Bill) Falk, Hazel (and Willie) Stilley; brothers, Donald (and Ingrid) Olausen, George Olausen, Floyd Olausen, Harold Olausen, sister-in-law Mildred Haak and brothers-in-law, Harold Widmark, Howard (and Wilma) Widmark and William Widmark. Memorials to the Waconia Good Samaritan are preferred.
