Mildred Oberg

Mildred L. Oberg, age 93, of Litchfield, MN, died on Thursday, July 9, 2009 at the Emmanuel Nursing Home in Litchfield, MN. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, July 13, 2009 at Cornerstone Church, Litchfield, MN with Pastor Herb Garland and Chaplain Roger Klinghagen officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:30 until 11:00 AM at the church. Interment will be in the Cloverleaf Cemetery, Willmar, MN at 2:00 PM. Mildred Lillian Oberg, the daughter of and Ben and Clara (Waters) Garner, was born on November 8, 1915 in Jamestown, ND. As a child, her family moved numerous times and she attended several country schools. She continued her education at Morris Agricultural School graduating in 1934. She was united in marriage to Alfred Johnson on June 27, 1936 and Carl Oberg in November 1966. Mildred lived in Lake Lillian and Atwater before moving to Litchfield in 1960. She was a nurses aid at Augustana Homes. Mildred was an active member of the First Baptist Church which became the Cornerstone Church in Litchfield, MN. She enjoyed being involved with the church women, flowers, embroidering and handiwork. She also enjoyed entertaining and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandsons. Mildred is survived by her children Russel (and Rosella) Johnson of Sandstone, MN and Ruth Ann Johnson of Litchfield, MN; grandchildren Patricia (and Dan) Knopf of Sandstone, MN and Curtis Johnson of Taylors Falls, MN; and great grandchildren Kelly Knopf and Jessie Knopf. She is preceded in death by her parents Ben and Clara; and brothers and sisters Bennie Garner, Audrey Lundquist and William Garner.
