Michael Kevin McGee

Michael ""Mike"" K. McGee, age 62, of Litchfield died on Sunday, March 22, 2015 at his home in Litchfield. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, March 31, 2015, at the Church of St. Philip in Litchfield. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Monday, March 30th at the Johnson-Hagglund Funeral Home in Litchfield with a parish prayer service at 7:00 PM. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the services at the church. Michael Kevin McGee, the son of James and Doris (Gray) McGee, was born on June 11, 1952, in Saint Cloud, Minnesota. He lived in Foley only a short time before his family moved to rural Sauk Rapids. Mike attended school in Sauk Rapids and graduated from Sauk Rapids High School in 1971. He continued his education at a Vo. Tech. School in Hibbing. Mike lived in various towns before moving to Litchfield in the late 1980's. He worked as kitchen help in various restaurants; most recently the Nelsan-Horton American Legion Post #104 and Peters on Lake Ripley. He was a member of the Church of St. Philip and the Sons of the American Legion. He was a peer mentor for Cedars Drop In Center for a while. Mike loved to golf. He began golfing as a young boy when a golf course was created next to his home. He enjoyed his friends and was very generous. He gave rides to anyone who asked. He also enjoyed riding his bicycle and playing his Wii, especially a golf game. He is survived by his sibling, Mary Ellen Weinand of Sauk Rapids, James (and Lydia) McGee, Jr. of Vallejo, CA, Terry (and Karen) McGee of Sauk Rapids, and Dorothy (and Bob) Beringer of Rice. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends. Mike was preceded in death by his parents, James and Doris McGee. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to the Nelsan-Horton American Legion Post #104.
