Merlyn Maynard Krosch

Merlyn M. Krosch, age 75, of Litchfield passed away on Friday, October 11, 2013. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, October 16, 2013 at Peace Lutheran Church in Cosmos. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 15th from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the Johnson-Hagglund Funeral Home in Litchfield and will continue one hour prior to the services at the church. Interment will be in the Cosmos Cemetery. Merlyn Maynard Krosch, the son of Maynard and Mabel (Pirsig) Krosch, was born on April 1, 1938, in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He graduated from Grant High School and then served in the National Guard. Merlyn's first auction was at age eleven. He continued to pursue his joy of auctioneering and graduated from auctioneer school following high school. On November 29, 1958, he was united in marriage to Marilyn Miller in Blue Earth, Minnesota. In 1965, they moved with Merlyn's parents to the Litchfield area where they all farmed together at Oakwood Farm. Merlyn was a well known auctioneer, not only at the Long Prairie Livestock Barn, but also with household and farm auctions in the local area as well. He was active in Cosmos Methodist Church and most recently with the Rosendale Methodist Church. He was involved in the Cripple Creek Snowmobile Club, Card Club, the Elmore Saddle Club, and many other community and social activities. He was an avid motorcyclist and enjoyed hunting and fishing. Surviving Merlyn are his children, Mona Krosch of Monticello, Marcy Krosch of St. Michael, Monty (and Patty) Krosch of Litchfield; grandchildren, Mickyla (and Jason) Constance, Dustin Krueger, Delaney Krueger, Jacob Reichert, Kasey Reichert, Jamison Reichert, Jeremiah Reichert, Jaden Krosch and Mitchel Krosch. He is also survived by two great grandchildren: McKenna Constance and Addisyn Constance and his sister, Marlys (and Duane) Darnell of Elmore, Minnesota. Merlyn was preceded in death by his parents, Maynard and Mable and wife, Marilyn. He will be missed by all.
