Maynard LeRoy Watkins

Maynard L. Watkins, age 74, of Litchfield died on Sunday, April 17, 2016, at the St. Cloud Hospital. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 Pm on Friday, April 22nd at the Johnson-Hagglund Funeral Home in Litchfield. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Forest City Cemetery. Maynard LeRoy Watkins, the son of Emerald and Mable (Ray) Watkins, was born on July 21, 1941 in Litchfield. He grew up in Litchfield and graduated from Litchfield High School on 1959. After graduating he worked for Honeywell in Minneapolis for 41 years. Maynard had a home in Waverly which was strategically purchased to be a half way point between work and Litchfield sporting events. Maynard was arguably the most devoted Litchfield sports fan. His mind was like a computer when it came to statistics and recall of past games. In his younger years he enjoyed bowling and softball. He and his brothers made up the majority, if not all, of the members of some of the teams he played for. He is survived by his brothers, Ray (and Lorraine) Watkins of Litchfield, Al Watkins of Willmar; sister, Dorothy (and Norbert) Lindemann of Sauk Center; brother-in-law, Orville Reinke of Litchfield, several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Marvin, Donald and Harold Watkins and sister Evelyn Reinke.
