She was a 1969 graduate of Saint Cloud Technical High School. She received her B.S. degree in Social Work from Bemidji State University and a B.A. in Elementary Education from The College of St. Benedicts. Mary Lee married Lance Provencher, on April 27, 1973, in Litchfield . After living several years in Idaho, they moved back to Minnesota and farmed in the Litchfield area. There, Mary Lee raised her three children, was a surrogate mother for many of the children's friends, was active on the family farm, worked as a substitute teacher in Litchfield schools, and was a committed member to St. Philips Catholic Church. In 2000, Mary Lee moved to Dassel. She worked as a social worker for Augustana Lakeside Senior Community until 2009. She was an active member of St. John's Catholic Church in Darwin. Mary Lee will be remembered as an avid gardener, companionable fisherperson, talented writer, and accomplished watercolor painter. Her family will remember her as a loving grandmother, spending as much time with her nine grandchildren as possible. Her devotion to Mary, the Blessed Mother, was central to her life. Mary Lee loved to travel with family. She skied most of the western mountain ranges with her children, explored Mexico with her sisters, cruised to Alaska with her parents, rode a mule to the bottom of the Grand Canyon with her mother and brother, visited her daughter and family when they lived in Florida, and made a pilgrimage with her mother and a brother to Medjugorje, Bosnia-Herzegovina. All who knew Mary Lee will miss her kindness, generosity, and radiant smile. She was always willing to listen to a story or lend a hand with a project. She shared produce from her garden and pantry. She offered advice when needed and was always willing to offer an intercession on another's behalf. Above all, everything she did or said came from her heart. Survivors include her mother, Donna of Sartell; children and grandchildren, Mario (Lisa) Provencher with Ava and Ela of Litchfield; Lauri (Jeremy) Miller with Alexander, Mikkyle, Elijah, and Gabriel of Maple Grove; and Lonnie (Katie) Provencher with Jonah, Claire, and Marlo of Lakeville; and siblings, Lloyd (Mary Ann) Traut of Sartell, Marilyn (Peter) Rasmussen of Eden Prairie; Marla (Joe) Lahr, Roys (Mary) Traut, and Cheryl (Dennis) Freihammer all of Sartell, along with many nieces and nephews.
