Mary Jane Ann Fitterer

Mary Jane A. Fitterer, age 90, of Litchfield died on Tuesday, February 6, 2018 at the Meeker Memorial Hospital in Litchfield. A funeral mass will be held at 10:30 AM on Monday, February 12, 2018 at the Church of St. Philip in Litchfield. Visitation will be held from 3:00 PM until 6:00 PM on Sunday, February 11th at the church and will continue one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at a later date in the St. Columban Catholic Cemetery. Mary Jane Ann Fitterer, the daughter of Edward and Julia (Goebel) Krautkremer, was born on December 8, 1927 in Mankato. She attended St. Peter and Paul School and graduated from Loyola in Mankato in 1945. After high school she worked at the hospital in Mankato. On June 7, 1948 she was united in marriage to Eugene Fitterer and they made their home on a farm near Litchfield by Lake Minnie Belle. She raised her six children and still found time to have a large vegetable garden. She canned and froze much of the produce from her garden. She also helped with the farm chores and loved feeding the calves. Mary Jane worked at the Meeker Memorial Hospital as an aide from 1970 until 1980. She was the chair person for the Meeker County Red Cross Blood Mobile. She was a member of St. Philip’s Church. Mary Jane loved spending time with her children and attending their events; whether it was watching sporting events, choir or band concerts or being a leader in 4H. She enjoyed feeding the birds and watching the Vikings and Notre Dame. Mary Jane played the accordion in a polka band for a couple of years. She is survived by her children Donald (Jackie French) Fitterer of La Crosse, WI, David (Robin) Fitterer of Cokato, Dorothy (Kirk) Lundin of Litchfield, Deb (Mark Hankins) of Le Center, Dan Fitterer of Litchfield, Diane Parker of Findlay, OH; grandchildren Sara (Wes) Anderson, Eric Fitterer (Melody Hansen), Anne Fitterer (Jon Adcock), Rachel Fitterer (David Chrissis), Andrew (Abby) Zilch, Michelle Hankins, Jason Hankins (fiancée Jordan Laudolff), and Cole Furgason; great grandchildren Sean Anderson, Vaida Adcock, Quincy Zilch and Evan Zilch. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Eugene, grandson Michael Lundin, brother Edward Krautkremer, and sister Betty Ziegler.
