Mary Ann L. Hicks passed away peacefully at Abbott Northwestern Hospital on May 18, 2015 in Minneapolis, MN at the age of 82, surrounded by her family. Mary Ann was born on October 11, 1932 in Forest City Township, MN to Erwin and Luella Bach, and grew up in Forest City, MN. Mary Ann graduated from Litchfield High School in the spring of 1950. That fall, she married Charles Hicks, the love of her life. Following her graduation, Mary Ann worked for the Meeker County Welfare Office in Litchfield, and Charles farmed and was employed by Adolph Nelson in the school bus business. Mary Ann and Charles purchased the school bus company, and worked side-by-side for 40 years building that business and adding a trucking company along the way. They moved to their home on the south shores of Lake Ripley in 1955, where they had four sons and raised their family. After Mary Ann moved to town later in life, she commented often about how she missed the view of her lake. Mary Ann was a wonderful and devoted wife, mother and friend, who had a deep faith in God, and a never ending love for her family and friends. Mary Ann and Charles were the light in each other's lives, and are together again for eternity. She had friends in all the places that she lived and spent time, from Minnesota to Montana to Arizona. All who met her received the same wonderful kindness from her. Many will miss her thoughtful notes and cards, which always seem to arrive just at the right time. Mary Ann is survived by three sons, Lyle (Joann) Hicks, Wade (Annie Tomes) Hicks and Bill Hicks, all of Litchfield, her daughter-in-law Leslie Hicks of Colorado Springs, CO; and seven grandchildren, Lindsey, Hayley, Daniel, Michael, Justin (Alyssa), Ben (Natalie) and Thomas, and many cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Charles, son Tab, parents Erwin and Luella, brother Ross, sister Ruth (Erv) Schultz. A visitation is scheduled for Wednesday, May 27, 2015 from 4 pm to 7 pm at the Johnson-Hagglund Funeral Home. A funeral is scheduled for Thursday, May 28, 2015 at 11:00 am at the United Methodist Church of Litchfield. A fellowship luncheon will follow at Peter's on Lake Ripley, at the Litchfield Golf Club. Pastor Bill Kerr will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Mary Ann's life. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Litchfield Area Hospice, the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, or the charity of your choice.Previous Events
