Mary Elizabeth Dougherty

Mary E. Dougherty, age 72, of Litchfield died on Wednesday, August 21, 2019 at the St. Cloud Hospital. A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, August 26, 2019 at Johnson-Hagglund Funeral and Cremation Service. Visitation will be held from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM on Sunday, August 25th and also an hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Mary Elizabeth Dougherty, the daughter of George and Elizabeth (Scarborough) Perkins, was born on December 15, 1946 in Duluth. She grew up in the Twin Cities area and graduated from Wayzata High School in 1964. She continued her education at business school. On October 5, 1980, she was united in marriage to Daniel Dougherty in Milan, MN. They moved to their home on Star Lake near Litchfield in 1989 Mary worked in sales for National Car Rental before working at More 4 in Litchfield. Mary was very active with the Senior Dining program in Litchfield and also served on the board of Star Lake Association. She loved flowers and had a green thumb. Mary had a soft spot for animals and loved to rescue dogs and cats in need of help. She is survived by her husband Dan Dougherty of Litchfield, children Bob (Maria) Dougherty of Heath Texas, Misty Dougherty of Oregon City, OR; grandchildren Cole Dougherty, Meaghan Dougherty, JT Hayward, Jessica Hayward, Jordan Hayward, Jaymee Hayward and two great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Ted (Hildur) Perkins of Excelsior and sister Patty (Bill) Donais of Elk River. She was preceded in death by her parents and son Kelly Andrew Dougherty.
